Antique Victorian Extra Wide Snake Ring 14k Rose Gold Garnet Sz 7 Fine Jewelry

$4,485.00

Overview:

Finely detailed antique Victorian extra wide snake ring crafted in 14 karat & 10 karat rose gold (circa 1880s to 1900s).

Pear cut garnet measures 9mm x 5mm (light surface abrasions to the garnet visible under a 10x loupe).

For centuries the snake has represented eternal love and faithfulness. Deeply popular during the Victorian era, particularly after Price Albert gifted Queen Victoria a serpent shaped engagement ring. The ring is unusual in design given the width of 25mm (0.98 inches). The ring takes up a lot of real estate on the finger and makes for an unforgettable look. The snakes head and tail features fine hand etched detail and is rendered in 14k rose gold. The coiled body of the snake tests 10k rose gold.

The ring is in good condition with patina evident. We have not cleaned the ring in order to preserve the patina and collector value.
