Overview:
Finely detailed vintage Nautical charm bracelet crafted in 18 karat yellow gold (circa 1970s).
The nautical themed enameled bracelet features 7 enameled nautical flags. Each of the flags are still used today as a form of communication on vessels (and also used long before radio communication came into use). The flags depicted in the bracelet are:
Mike: My vessel is stopped, making no way
Echo: Altering course to starboard
Lima: You should stop your vessel immediately
Romeo: (No single-flag meaning today)
Papa: Vessel about to sail
Oscar: Man overboard
November: Negative/No
The bracelet is made by the Italian jewelry company 'Scarabeo' who produced nautical themed jewelry from the late 1960s through the 1980s with the explosion of yacht ownership and Mediterranean leisure culture at the time. The first letter of each nautical flag is engraved on the back of the bracelet. The bracelet is in very good condition and was lightly cleaned and polished.
