Overview:

Elaborate antique Victorian pendant (circa 1860s to 1880s) crafted in 18 karat yellow gold.

29 natural pearls each measure (average) 2mm. The pearls are in-tact and appear to be original to the pendant.

The beautifully detailed pendant depicts the Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra. The headress is enameled in shades of blue, white, brown and turquoise with the face painted. A consummate Egyptian revival piece from the Victorian era. With the work on the Suez Canal in the 1860s and exhibit of Egyptian treasures in 1867 a fascination with all things Egyptian developed from art to jewelry. The pendant is a wonderful and unique example of jewelry from the late Victorian era. The back of the pendant opens to hold a picture or keepsake.

The pendant is in good condition with light wear evident. The enamel is in-tact with no repairs evident.
