Antique Art Nouveau Gargoyle Pendant Moonstone Diamond Charm Fine Jewelry

$985.00

Overview:

Finely detailed antique Art Nouveau Gargoyle pendant/charm (circa 1900s to 1910s), crafted in 18 karat yellow gold.

Cabochon cut moonstone measures 8.5mm. One old mine cut diamond is estimated at 0.04 carats (estimated at I-J color and SI2-I1 clarity).
The beautifully detailed pendant is set with a luminous rainbow moonstone to the center with a small old mine cut diamond to the base. The sides of the pendant feature Gargoyles, symbolizing guardianship and to ward off evil spirits. The pendant is a lovely example of Art Nouveau era jewelry when mystical creatures were popular themes in jewelry design. The piece is a component that was converted (most likely from a stick pin) to its current form as a small pendant (also wearable as a charm).

We have not cleaned the pendant in order to preserve the patina and collector value.
