Victorian Essex Crystal Conversion Ring Horse Fox Dog Vintage 14k Gold Jewelry

$4,975.00

Overview:

Unique Victorian Essex Crystal ring crafted in 14 karat yellow gold.

Four Essex crystal panels each measure 10mm diameter (0.39 inches). The Essex crystals are in excellent condition and free of cracks or chips.

Originally a set of Victorian buttons, the Essex Crystal pieces were converted to a cocktail ring. Representing a hunting scene with a horse, fox and dog (beagle). Essex Crystal is one of the most unique types of Victorian era jewelry. A piece of rock crystal is first cut into a cabochon (with a flat back). From the flat back the artisan very carefully carves a design into it, then painted to offer a three dimensional look. The cluster of four Essex Crystals together is a smart use of the jewels for everyday wear. The low rise ring (5mm - 0.19 inches) sits flat and comfortably on the finger.

The ring is in very good condition. We have not cleaned it in order to preserve the patina and collector value.
