Overview:

Antique Georgian era memorial ring (circa 1825) crafted in 18 karat yellow gold.

Natural pearls measuring (average) 2.5mm border an oval compartment that holds natural hair. The pearls are in very good condition showing good luster. The glass case protecting the braided hair is in excellent condition and free of cracks or chips.

The ring is a wonderful example of Georgian era memorial jewelry with rich floral and scrolled details to the side shoulders. The pearls border a lock of hair that is finely braided in a protected oval glass mount. Black enamel borders the pearls. The inner band is engraved "John Wilson ob 3Aug 1825 50". The overall condition of the ring is very good considering its age. We have not cleaned the ring in order to preserve the patina and collector value. The ring features English hallmarks (see below).

Metal & Hallmark: 18 karat yellow gold. The ring is hallmarked with the Makers Mark "W.D.W.L" followed by the Duty Mark and "18" for 18 karat gold along with the Date Letter sequence "K" for the year 1825.
