Overview:
Distinct and beautifully made antique Portuguese figural animal pendant crafted in 19 karat Portuguese yellow gold (circa 1887 - 1932).
A great example of antique Portuguese jewelry with a mother deer standing protectively above her young fawn. The sculptural fob captures the animals in naturalistic pastoral scene, set upon a richly chased mount of scrolling foliate design.
The pendant is in good condition and was lightly cleaned and polished. Patina is evident yet preserved for collector value. Note: indentations to the gold (base of the pendant) commensurate with wear and age.

Metal & Hallmark: 19 karat yellow gold (800 fineness). The pendant is hallmarked though illegible due to age and use. The piece dates to 1887 - 1932. Please note that vintage and pre-owned jewelry may test slightly below the stamped or tested standard due to manufacturing tolerances, alloy variations, age, solder content, or wear. The piece may test from 16k to 18.8k gold with XRF methods. Note: the bale is a later addition to the piece and is 14k gold.
