$5,482.00

Overview:

Beautifully detailed antique Victorian carnelian wax seal ring (circa 1880s to 1900s), crafted in 18 karat yellow gold.

Carnelian measures 16mm x 7.5mm (in very good condition and free of cracks or chips). Few light surface abrasions visible under a 10x loupe from wear over the years (visible under a 10x loupe).

The sweet Victorian era ring is set with carnelian, engraved with the name 'Emma" in old cursive font (the inner band is also engraved with the name 'Emma'). The ring is beautifully detailed with the side shoulders featuring a scrolling motif and ladder style design, with granulation bordering the rectangular mount. The underside of the ring features an etched foliate motif. The ring is medium sized in scale, great for day or evening wear. The ring has a low profile, rising 4mm from the finger (0.15 inches) The ring would have been used as a seal to impress in hot wax to close a letter or form of communication. A wonderful example of Victorian era jewelry in very good original condition. We have not cleaned the ring in order to preserve the patina and collector value.
